Our Mission

WaterED is a free educational resource dedicated to making Great Lakes water science accessible, engaging, and relevant for K–12 students and teachers. From the Great Lakes to local watersheds, we connect math and science standards to the real-world water systems that define the region.

Why Water?

Michigan is surrounded by four of the five Great Lakes, holding 21% of the world's surface fresh water. Yet many students grow up without deeply understanding this extraordinary resource — its science, its fragility, and its importance. WaterED was created to change that, one lesson at a time.
